Why We Love Y-Love

For those of you who haven't met- or maybe the better word is experienced- global hip-hop artist and all-around mensch Yitz Jordan (aka Y-Love), drop what you're doing and find a way.

Yitz was in Chicago recently for his show with Jewish music rennaissance man Diwon and we got the chance to chill with him while he was here. He even came and spoke to my masters class at Spertus about his story, and he dropped a few rhymes for us. (Here I also have to give a shout-out to Dr. Judah Cohen, who taught the course on Jewish Aesthetics, and not only invited Y-Love, but also Stereo Sinai to speak about music and Judaism. You are officially the coolest professor I know.) He then put on an amazing show and made Shabbat completely unforgettable.

You can keep up on what Y-Love is up to at these sites:

This is Babylon; Y-Love Music; he also contributed a G-dcast; and yes, even Wikipedia.

Yitz embodies heartfelt passion and vision, something we can all use a little more of.
